Who does our President represent?
As Americans, we live in a country that is a melting pot of
diverse cultures, religions, ethnicities, and ideologies. A country that has
fought for our freedom of speech, freedom of religion and the ability to vote
as a democracy to elect those who are best capable of leading our nation.
Unfortunately, I think Americans need to wake up and realize how important a
stable, credible government is to our nation’s future.
As we see more and more problems unfolding regarding
President Trump and his administration, I’m coming to the realization that this
president doesn’t appear to represent ALL the people in our nation. He has
drawn a strong party line and openly dismisses groups from outside the
conservative party, groups who have differing beliefs than the republican guard. And, as we can now see in today’s latest
reporting, President Trump even has those from the conservative party
distancing themselves from him because they too realize he is not making decisions
in the best interests of America as a country.
President Trump isn’t taking time to ensure what he says matches what he
truly means. I think President Trump
does want our country to thrive. But, words
have meaning and as a President, his words can start wars, can inspire millions
or they can tear down the fabric of a nation.
Instead of slowing down and ensuring his words match his overall
strategy and those across the administration, his words instead come across as careless
and entertaining. Being President isn’t
about gloating because you have the limelight or using this platform for
personal gain. It isn’t about being power hungry and destroying your
competition. I think being a President means you are serving the people of your
nation and taking time to ensure your words and actions inspire, reassure and
reaffirm that the United States of America is one of the best places in the world
to live. I think being President means you put aside your ego, your personal
desires and your friend’s personal desires and focus on keeping our nation
safe, helping our nation thrive economically and being that beacon of hope for
so many Americans who struggle to understand the calamities of our day.
So, who does our President really represent? I really hope
he takes a step back and realizes the heavy, serious oath he has taken and does
the following:
1) Slow down with communicating directly to the
public; every thought does not and should not be shared. The American public will appreciate this
change and it will actually allow us pay closer attention to what is really
important.
2) Decide if the current people in your administration
are really best suited for their positions.
Sometimes we choose people that we trust first, even if they aren’t
technically and tactically qualified and in this current administration, I don’t
think this has fared well. If you have
people on staff looking out for their own selfish interests instead of serving
all the American people, they need to go.
Plain and simple.
3) For those you dismiss, replace them with knowledgeable,
experienced and compassionate staff who are serving our country, not just the
President.
4) End the bashing of the media. The media is a
acting as the “fourth estate” for a reason and you want and need this in a
democracy. Yes, sometimes they can be
unreasonable but there are ways to discourage unethical/unfair reporting without
stooping to name calling or black listing media. If you are unhappy with their
reporting, first reflect on the words you are using to ensure they are not
being misinterpreted. Seek to clarify and ensure your messages are clear enough
for people to understand. For the media
that simply refuse to report on the positive aspects of your administration, rest
assured there are several others simply trying to keep the American public
informed about the actions of the federal government. Don’t let the media change your strategy or
misinterpret it. Be clear, concise and
consistent in speaking to the American public. We need and deserve this.
Good luck, President Trump. Our
country needs you and the rest of the federal government to take care of our
nation. Too many men and women have died
protecting the freedoms and liberties we have today for our country to lose its
credibility and stability as as nation.
Please carefully consider if you have the right people on staff to guide
you in an ethical, professional and judicious way towards serving our great
nation.
